 PPL Preserves

Easy hiking for Ranger Kids and Discovery Rangers, Historical, Nature Study etc.

At PPL, we've always been a part of the communities where we do business. It's an attitude that's woven in to the fabric of our business philosophy and in to the moral fiber of our people. We're proud of the work we do to strengthen our communities, to preserve the environment for future generations and to improve education. And, we're proud of our employees who spend countless hours each year volunteering to help those in need.

Caring for the environment is a responsibility we take very seriously. We maintain thousands of acres of company-owned land for your recreational and educational use. All our environmental preserves share common goals: preserve the land, restore endangered species and habitats, and provide a place for people to learn about and enjoy nature's beauty. So, visit the PPL environmental preserves near our generating facilities and explore the woods, fields and wetlands; or attend one of our many educational outreach offerings for formal and non-formal educators; or bring a class on a field trip. You'll see that PPL is about "Caring for Community."

To learn about our environmental preserves, click on the links below or use the navigation bar to the left.

Holtwood Preserve
(near Lancaster, Pa.)

A nationally recognized wildflower preserve, arboretum, museum of American Indian artifacts and the nation's largest fish lifts are among the highlights at PPL's Holtwood and Lake Aldred nature and recreation area. Pavilions are available for rent at this location.

Lake Wallenpaupack
(Hawley, Pa.)

Lake Wallenpaupack, in the Pocono Mountains, is a comfortable drive from many cities in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. The setting is largely wooded vacation land, dotted with small lakes and scented by hemlock trees. The lake offers year-round outdoor recreation opportunities, including fishing, boating and water skiing.

Martins Creek Preserve
(near Easton, Pa.)

The Martins Creek Environmental Preserve, stretching alongside the Delaware River, offers 215 acres of woodland and meadows to hike and explore. A pavilion is available rent-free at this location.

Montour Preserve
(near Washingtonville in north central Pa.)

The Montour Preserve is situated in a broad valley in the beautiful Appalachian hills. In the heart of the Preserve lies Lake Chillisquaque, a haven for boating and fishing. Pavilions are available for rent at this location.
